Career Opportunities that matter
Providing a career opportunity as enriching for our employees as it is for our clients.
When you choose a career in home care, you’re choosing to make a positive difference in people’s lives. What we do – matters – because we care for people who need us.
They may be elderly, they may be chronically ill, they may be suffering from dementia or ALS, they may simply be lonely and need a little help around their home. There are many reasons why people lose the ability to care for themselves. But when they do, we’re there for them.
If you are looking to do something that matters, join us – and make a difference in someone’s life too.
We impact our Communities
Positively impacting our local communities in many ways.
We operate community offices throughout the Pioneer Valley to be close to staff, clients, and be a contributing member of each of the many communities within the Valley.
Our office managers attend community events and visit local community elder service centers regularly. We work closely with state ASAP’s (Aging Services Access Points) and VNA hospitals.
All O’Connell staff are encouraged to find opportunities to volunteer in some meaningful way within their communities.
In addition to home care, O’Connell Aides impact their communities by also providing adjunct care to residents in the Valley’s many long-term care facilities, filling in care gaps nursing home staff are unable provide.
Training and Personal Development
To positively impact a person’s physical, emotional and mental well-being it’s important to be trained in best practices.
Joining O’Connell includes a commitment to training on an ongoing basis. We certainly hire people with homecare experience and existing HHA and CNA certifications, but we also regularly hire people without them. People looking for a career in homecare – but don’t know how – or where – to start are welcome!
Candidates must meet a few fundamental qualifications, a high school diploma and genuine desire to care for others among them. But you don’t need homecare experience to join us. New recruits will be given introductory training to qualify as a Companion/Personal Care Homemaker. From there you can continue training while also working to reach Home Health Aide Certification status. Further advancement involves state certification exams, and continuing education in-service certificates.
Commitment to continuing education is a core value for us. Working in health care is a never-ending process of self-improvement and growth. Because we know training and certifications are important to providing the best care possible for our clients, it’s also an important consideration in everyone’s personal career advancement at O’Connell.
If you’ve considered a career helping others and would like to get started, explore what O’Connell has to offer you.
